Japanese Contemporary food packaging is featured by strong national characteristics and modern minimalism, recognized by designers and consumers, which is worthy of reference and learning. Through probing into the origins and historical contexts of minimalism in Japanese food packaging and by virtue of specific cases, this paper is aimed at expounding the minimalism of contemporary Japanese food packaging and gaining some enlightenment about Chinese food packaging designs from the law of parsimony.
