Aerobic solid-state fermentation, with a long history, has played a pivotal role in human society. In this paper the development history, the advantages and the application fields of aerobic solid-state fermentation were introduced. Moreover, the recent research achievements of solid state fermentation bio-reactor and other auxiliary technologies were summarized. In end of the paper, the future development of of aerobic solid-state was also prospected.
